His racing coach, Harder Singh, confirmed his death on social networks.

“The most dear runners, it is with great sadness that we can confirm that our icon of humanity and the power of positivity, Fauja Singh, died in India, 114,”, started her statement. “He succumbed to injuries caused by a vehicle accident while crossing the road near his home.”

Singh tributes flocked to social networks after the news of his death. Among them, there was a statement from the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Fauja Singh Ji was extraordinary because of his unique personality and the way he inspired the young people of India on a very important fitness subject,” said Modi in an article on X. “He was an exceptional athlete with incredible determination. The Singh racing club in London, Sikhs in the city, said that he was planning to honor his heritage during his upcoming events.
