- OnePlus launched the OnePlus Turbo series
- Highlights include 9,000 mAh batteries and high refresh rates
- These low-cost gaming phones have so far only been announced for China, but there could be a global launch later.
After a teaser last month, the OnePlus Turbo 6 and OnePlus Turbo 6V have now been fully revealed, and they should offer impressive battery life and gaming capabilities at a pretty low price.
Both phones have 9,000 mAh batteries, which means they even keep pace with the OnePlus 15 at 7,300 mAh. They can also both charge at up to 80W, and despite having such large capacity batteries, they’re only 8.5mm thick.
They also both have substantial water resistance, including IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings, giving them resistance to splashes, submersion and high pressure and high temperature water jets. For cameras, they both have a 50 MP main snapper, a 2 MP monochrome, and a 16 MP front camera.
A difference in power
Many other specs differ between the two phones, however, with the OnePlus Turbo 6 being the higher-end model. It has a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, and includes a Fengchi gaming core, which can help games reach 165fps. It also has up to 512GB of storage and a 6.78-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate.
The OnePlus Turbo 6V instead features a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 6.78-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
So neither model is particularly premium outside of the battery and screen specs, but with those high-capacity batteries, high refresh rates, and – in the case of the OnePlus Turbo 6 – the gaming-boosting Fengchi Gaming Core, they should make for solid gaming phones.
Right now, these phones are only confirmed for China, with the OnePlus Turbo 6 starting at CNY2,300 (around $330 / £245 / AU$490), while the 6V starts at CNY1,900 (around $270 / £200 / AU$410), so they could be very affordable phones if prices elsewhere are similar.
That said, while it’s possible they’ll launch globally later, as is often the case with OnePlus devices, there’s no guarantee. So for now, you might want to check out our list of the best gaming phones if you’re looking for a new handset to game on.
