Lahore:

An accused session took place in the Punjab assembly while opposition legislators were unleashed in the government for what they called the “scripted” and “motivated by politically” sorrows granted to the legislators, workers and supporters of PTI in the cases of May 9.

The deputy chief of the opposition, Muhammad Moeenuddin Riaz, led the criticism, declaring that the Verdicts of the ATC not only undermined justice but also in depth the political gap.

“Try everything you can, but you cannot erase Imran Khan in people’s hearts,” he said, accusing the government of prioritizing political vendettas on pressing national issues such as flood management.

He also allegedly alleged that public funds were devoted to business orchestration against PTI members instead of tackling the realities on the ground.

In protest, the opposition organized a boycott in a token of the procedure, leaving briefly from the house.

Responding to the demonstration, the whip of the PML-N, Rana Muhammad Arshad, condemned the position of the PTI, questioning their moral authority to speak of justice after the violence of May 9. He accused the opposition of supporting sedition and undermining state institutions.

Treasury deputy Amjad Ali Javed raised a separate question, highlighting the improper use of article 97-A of the 2016 law of the province of motor vehicles (amendment) by a traffic director and a police official. He said the section had not yet been officially applied and required an action. The case was referred to the committee concerned.

Javed has also urged the government to fulfill its employment quota at 3% for special people, saying that the implementation remains insufficient. In the same vein, the MPA of the Treasury Sohail Khan Zahid asked that agricultural taxes be deleted in the areas affected by the floods.

Muhammad ShoaiB Siddiqui of IPP called chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to approach the bad drainage conditions in the Lahore railway colony and the adjacent areas following recent rains.

Upon their return from their disengagement, the members of the opposition tried to resume speeches against the sorrows of ATC, but the president did not grant permission. This has led to new Élogans from the opposition benches.

While tensions intensified, a legislator underlined the lack of quorum. With insufficient members present to continue the procedure, the president postponed the session until 2 p.m. on July 28.
