The owners of San Diego Padres, Matthew and Robert Seidler, the brother of the former deceased owner Peter Seidler, responded to a trial brought by the widow of Peter, Sheel Kamal Seidler, who continues for the property of the team.
Matthew and Robert’s lawyer provided PK Press Club Digital, and this suggests a blame on the Sheel’s trial for the team’s inability to sign the Japanese star launcher Roki Sasaki this offseason. Sasaki signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers rival after having apparently had heavy discussions with the paadres for weeks.
“During a crucial period when Padres management was in the late negotiation phase with a star launcher, the Sheel’s trial has insufficiently suggested that Matt and his brothers plotted to move the paadres elsewhere”, the answer, which was tabled on Monday Texas approval court, Read.
Sasaki himself said that one of the reasons why he had chosen to sign with the Dodgers was because of the organization’s stability during his introductory press conference last week.
“The thing n ° 1 which stood out [about the Dodgers] was the stability of the front office, “said the launcher via a translator.

Sheel filed his lawsuit against his brothers-in-law in early January to try to take control of the team from their children.
The widow allegedly allegedly allegedly allegedly, before her death, revealed that her dying wish was for her to take control of the paadres, followed by their children and that her children have the greatest participation in the property. She adds that the two brothers of Peter, Matt and Bob, “try to erase the vision and heritage of Peter, as well as to throw himself wrongly as the real heirs of Peter”.
The costume also alleges that Bob’s wife has made several “racist, profane and hateful communications directed against Sheel – a woman of Indian origin – in communication”.
Matt and Robert’s response, they claim that Peter has never designated Sheel as a successor to the team during his life.
“Peter could have chosen to (a) give the right to Sheel the right to be, to designate or approve the individual who controls the paadres, (b) give a property or a control directly on the interest of the Trust for the Padres, (c) give Sheel the right to approve or veto to any transaction by the trustee, or (d) require that the trustee makes any main distribution which asks Sheel, “the response read.
The answer says that Peter has changed his confidence at least seven times after their marriage and has never appointed Sheel a successor trustee in any version and that she was prevented from “always as a successor fiduciary in all circumstances “.
The answer also claims that Peter said during his life that he wanted his brothers and sisters and his niece to take control of the team after his death.

“Peter has had many conversations with his brothers and sisters and others on people of successors control and has always identified five family members seidler as candidates: Bob, Matt, John, his brother Tom (who has a career 30 years and over in baseball, including 12 years with the Padres), and his niece, Monica, “he read.
“”In any of these conversations, Peter never suggested or even involved that he wanted Sheel to direct the paadres. As Peter said to people close to him, he moved his family to Texas in 2021 in an important part because he wanted to “withdraw the pressure from Sheel and the Kids” and to “remove the driving of the spotlight”. Peter knew only too well the potential effects of media attention, as well as other pressures, stresses and requirements that accompany possession of a sports franchise. “”
PK Press Club Digital contacted Sheel to comment but did not receive an answer at the time of publication.
Peter died in November 2023 at the age of 63. He had been sick for months, although he was not revealed exactly what he was dealing with. Seidler is a cancer survivor who had health problems for a while.
He said in July 2023 that the paadres would remain in his family for generations after his death.
Peter was the founder of Seidler Equity Partners, who was a key element of the group that bought the Padres in 2012. The uncle to seidler, also named Peter, and Ron Fowler were also part of the group.
The name of the group derives from the grandfather from Seidler, Walter O’malley, who owned the 1950 dodgers, when they moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, until 1979. Fowler transferred the role of president to seidler 2020, then Seidler bought part of Fowler’s participation in the organization to become the largest stakeholder in the team.

Before his death, he dealt with a series of high cost contracts with superstar players in order to compete with Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West division and win a world series.
These contracts include the $ 350 million dollars agreement from Manny Machado, the $ 340 million agreement from Fernando Tatis Jr., the $ 280 million agreement from Xander Bogaertz, and the 108 million dollars agreement by Yu Darvish.
The team has never been able to reach the World Series, but they defeated the Dodgers rivals in the playoffs in 2021 and 2022.
