- The Ozone 3K and Ozone 5K are considered the world’s thinnest magnetic power banks.
- At just 4.98mm thick, Ozone 3K is even thinner than iPhone Air
- Currently these power banks are on Kickstarter
Although most MagSafe batteries work with the iPhone Air, due to their different design than other iPhones, they won’t necessarily fit perfectly, except for a few specifically designed for Apple’s ultra-thin smartphone. But even those designed for this purpose can be a little chunky, which isn’t ideal when the goal of this phone is to be thin. However, a new battery fixes this problem.
Dubbed Ozone 3K, it measures just 4.98mm thick, which Kopplen (the company behind it) claims makes it the world’s thinnest magnetic power bank. Although it’s not easy to verify, it’s certainly thinner than the official iPhone Air MagSafe battery at around 7.7mm thick, or the Anker Nano power bank of similar thickness. And it’s also 5.6mm thinner than the iPhone Air itself.
Of course, being so thin, the Ozone 3K doesn’t have a huge capacity, with its 3,000mAh of power providing a 62% charge to the iPhone Air, although there is also an Ozone 5K, which can give it a full charge, but is 6.49mm thick.
Not just for iPhone Air
And while we’re focusing on the iPhone Air here, both Ozone models are also compatible with other iPhones, as well as Android Qi2 devices. In fact, if you use them with an Android phone, you’ll get up to 15W of charging power, while on iPhones you’ll be limited to 7.5W.
Both batteries are also lightweight, with the Ozone 3K weighing 77g and the 5K 97g, and at the moment they’re not too expensive, with an anticipated Kickstarter price of just $44.99 (around £35 / AU$65), down from the standard price of $69.99 (around £50 / AU$105).
This price oddly enough applies to both models, so you don’t have to pay more to get a higher capacity. Of course, since they’re currently on Kickstarter, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever ship, so you might want to wait until retail, even if it will cost a bit more.
