The Pakistani film wins the Jackson Wild Media Awards

“Moklani – The Last Mohanas” won the prestigious Jackson Wild Media Awards, becoming the first Pakistani film to do it during the prizes, often called “Oscars of Nature Documentaries”.

“WOW .. WOW .. Our movie Moklani has become the very first winner of the Pakistani feature film with Jackson Wild Media Awards 2025 celebrated the whole world as an Oscars,” Jawad Sharif Films on Instagram announced.

“We dedicate this prize to Mohana Fisherfolk, Pakistan, and all indigenous communities whose stories, struggles and wisdom inspire us to continue to tell the stories that matter.”

Directed and produced by the award -winning filmmaker Jawad Sharif, the Pakistani film was chosen from a record basin of more than 500 entries.

According to the producers, the film highlights the history of the Mohana people of Lake Manchar, a community of indigenous fishermen whose searice traditions disappear quickly.

Produced by Jawad Sharif Films with the support of the National Geographic Society and Climate Kahani, “Moklani – The Last Mohanas” is both a visually striking and deeply human portrait of a community on the verge of cultural extinction.

Their struggle reflects the greatest climate crisis that Pakistan knows.
