The Khyber-Pakhtunkh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has published a high alert following intermittent rain forecasts by the meteorological department, thunderstorms and wind storms across the province from September 15 to 19, with strong showers expected in certain regions.
According to the PDMA Advisory, from September 16 to 19, the upper districts, including the top and the bottom, the dir, the top and the low chitral, the swat, the top and the bottom Kohistan, the Kolai-Palas, the Shangla, the Battagram, the Manshra, the Abbottabad, the Haripur, the Banger, the Malakand, the Mohmand, the Mohmand The Kohat Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak and North and South Waziristan can undergo heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
The PDMA warned that from September 18 to 19, the strong precipitation could cause an increase in water flows in the streams and rivers of Dir, Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Biner, Kohistan, Manshra, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan. Authority also warned of possible landslides in the sensitive mountain areas of Abbottabad, Battagram, Biner, Chitral, Dir, Khyber, Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Toglar and North Wazirist.
The opinion also stressed that strong winds and lightning can damage vulnerable houses, electricity posts, display panels and solar panels. District administrations were responsible for taking precautionary measures, ensuring appropriate drainage and holding local residents, travelers and informed tourists.
Special instructions have also been issued for farmers, breeding owners and tourists. Farmers and breeders were invited to move crops and animals to safer places, while tourists were invited to avoid risky places during the bad weather period.
