Sony announced that he closed his loyalty program for PlayStation stars after three years.
In a new PlayStation blog article, the company has confirmed that PlayStation stars will close and no longer accept new members from today.
Those who choose to cancel their membership will not be able to join and lose all the points won.
“Since the launch of the program, we have learned a lot by evaluating the types of activities to which our players react best, and as a business, we always evolve with the trends of players and industry,” said Sony.
“Thanks to this evaluation, we have decided to refocus our efforts and will end the current version of PlayStation stars. We will continue to assess our main conclusions of this program, and seek ways to rely on these learning.”
Although the award program stops, members can always win digital collectibles, points and increase their status until July 23, 2025 at 7:59 am PDT / 15:59 BST / 11:59 JST.
After this date, no new PlayStation Stars campaign will be available, rewards or benefits of additional status to be won.
Sony said that “this version” of PlayStation Stars will end fully on November 2, 2026, but it is not clear if the company plans to publish another version of the loyalty program.
He also said that current members of PlayStation stars can continue to exchange points as long as their points do not express before this date, and that members can still access their digital collectibles, even after the entry into force of these modifications.
The program was made available for PS5 and PS4 in 2022 and rewards players with feidable loyalty points which can be exchanged for various digital goodies after having met various challenges, such as unlocking a specific trophy or playing a game on your system.
