Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif summoned an emergency meeting at the National Command Authority (NCA) while Pakistan soldiers continue the Bunyan-Un-Marso Operation, a major reprisal campaign in response to Indian missile and drone attacks earlier this week.
The National Command Authority (NCA) is the highest civil and military organization responsible for command, control and operational decisions concerning the Pakistan nuclear weapons program and strategic assets. NCA also establishes a policy for all strategic nuclear forces and strategic organizations
According to security sources, the operation – launched the first hours of Saturday – targeted several high value Indian military facilities. Confirmed strikes include the destruction of the Brahmos missile storage site in Beas, Udhampur Airbase, Pathankot Airfield and Adampur Airfield, which would have been used to launch missiles in Amritsar, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Security officials also indicated that the Indian Brigade headquarters in G-Top and the supply deposit in Uri had been destroyed. In addition, Pakistan has targeted and neutralized an Indian artillery position in Dehragyari and a brahmos storage site in Nagrota, with heavy losses.
Officials also confirmed that Pakistan had launched its al-Fatah missile during the operation, appointing it in honor of innocent Pakistani children killed during previous Indian strikes. “Pakistan has neither forgotten nor forget the sacrifices of these children,” said a security source.
While the military operation continues, Pakistan Air Force remains on alert. The airspace across the country was closed earlier during the day until noon as a precaution.
