The power rate can see a slight increase

Islamabad:

Consumers are likely to cope with the increase in electricity rates to RS0.91 per unit due to fuel adjustment for the month of August 2025.

The NEPRA will hold a public hearing on September 29, concerning a petition deposited by the Central Power Purchase Agency Guaranee Limited (CPPA-G).

The CPPA-G requested an increase in the costs of adjusting fuel costs (FCA) for August 2025 to RS0.1911 per kilowatt hour (KWH) on the price of reference fuel due to variations in production costs.

The overall cost of production fuel was on average RS7,5059 / kWh, compared to the notified reference price of RS7.3149 / kWh.

After taking into account transmission losses, IPP sales and previous adjustments, the net cost provided to nightclubs was RS7.5059 / kWh. Based on this calculation, CPPA-G requested an increase in the RS0.1911 / kWh in the monthly FCA.

Coal -based power provided an important part of the supply, local coal producing 1,442 GWh at the cost of RS12.0146 / kWh and imported coal generating 1,138 GWh to RS14.0753 / kWh. Nuclear energy, which represented 2,145 GWh or 15.09% of total production, provided electricity at a relatively low cost of RS2,1950 / kWh. Iran’s imported electricity, although a minor contributor to 78 GWh, has transported a much higher price of RS41,0948 / kWh.

The residual fuel oil (RFO), despite its limited share of 92 GWh (0.65%), had the most expensive unit cost among conventional fuels at RS33.0064 / kWh. The high -speed diesel did not record any generation during the month.

The fuel charges adjustments are made under article 31 (7) of the 1997 NEPRA law, the opinion emphasizes that the political directives of the federal government on the uniform fuel cost adjustments require that the costs applicable to discotheques are also extended to electrical consumers K, ensuring parity across the country.
