Pakistan’s Party Party leader (PPP) Najmi Alam urged the Sindh government and the Karachi administration to close the tea hotels in the Karachi defense and clifton regions at midnight.
In a letter to the chief minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah and the deputy commissioner of South Karachi, Alam underlined the concerns that tea hotels have become shelters for criminal elements, Express News reported.
He also took the alarm concerning information reporting drug trafficking activities in Clifton Block 2 tea hotels, where such activities would take place throughout the night.
Alam also stressed that noisy music played in these hotels has become a significant disruption for local residents, contributing to increasing public disorders.
The PPP chief officially requested that the sub-commissioner has set closing hours regulated for these establishments, with the aim of improving public security and slowing down criminal activity in these areas.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Sindh -Chief Minister of Sindh and the Karachi Commissioner for new measures.
