Islamabad:
President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to work with China and other nations on Saturday to extend cultural exchanges, strengthen creative industries and promote understanding and a culture of tolerance.
He said that culture remained a vital bridge towards peace, prosperity and a shared future for humanity.
The president addressed to the second forum of international culture of the Golden Panda Awards in Chengdu, Chengdu, province of Sichuan, in China, and stressing the power of art and culture by uniting people and connecting civilizations.
The forum was followed by senior Chinese leaders, cultural representatives, artists and international delegates, said President Secretariat Press Wing in a press release.
President Zardari stressed that the Sustainable Pakistani-Chinese friendship was a model of mutual respect and cooperation.
While the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic links next year, he recalled that this partnership remained not only strategic but also a living testimony of the deep ties of friendship between their peoples.
President Zardari underlined Pakistan’s total support for the vision of China of “the exchange of civilization and mutual learning” and underlined the importance of the global development initiative (GDI), the World Security Initiative (GSI) and the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), noting their concentration on sustainable development, regional stability and more inclusive international cooperation.
He underlined the importance of the GGI, which favored respect for the diversity of civilizations, equality between cultures, exchanges of people to people and cultural dialogue as a contrary to the stories of a “clash of civilizations”.
The president observed that the world suffered spectacular changes and praised China under President XI for having offered a cooperation path and win-win solutions instead of the confrontation.
A banquet was organized by the secretary of the Communist Party of China Wang Xiao Hui in honor of President Asif Ali Zardari in the Sichuan province on Saturday.
The banquet was followed by Asefa Bhutto Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistan ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, senior Chinese officials and other stretched guests.
