On the occasion of Pakistan Day and Aid Ul Fitr, President Asif Ali Zardari announced a special 180 -day sentence in sentence for some prisoners.
The discount, granted under article 45 of the Constitution, will not apply to people recognized as guilty of serious crimes, such as murder, espionage, anti-state activities, rape, theft, abduction, terrorism, financial crimes, offenses causing loss to the national treasury, or violations under the law on foreigners, 1946 Narcotic substances (amendment).
The remission will mainly benefit prisoners aged 65 and over who have served at least a third of their sentence, as well as prisoners aged 60 and over who meet the same criteria.
Women detained with children and minors under the age of 18 who have served a third of their sentence will also be eligible for remission.
On Wednesday, the federal government officially announced public holidays for Eidul Fitr, from March 31 to April 2.
A notification issued by the cabinet secretariat said the Prime Minister said these dates as public holidays to celebrate Eidul Fitr.
The vacation period will extend from Monday to Wednesday, allowing citizens to observe the festivities and celebrate the opportunity.
Meanwhile, the Central Committee of Rue-E-Hilal, as well as the zonal committees, will meet on Sunday evening March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 Ah), to see the Moon Shawwal, marking the potential end of the sacred month of Ramadan and the start of the celebrations of the Eid UL-FITR in Pakistan.
The meeting will take place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interconfessional Harmony, where religious scholars, meteorological experts and other stakeholders will meet to examine the observation reports of the moon in the whole country.
This session will determine the exact date for Eidul Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the most sacred month of the Islamic calendar.
