The president of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party Council (PPP), Amir Bhashani, was killed in a targeted attack in the Gulshan-E-Zia region of Orangi Town on Thursday evening, police announced.

Bhashani, also known as Amir Bhutto, was seated inside a camp office near his home on the number one street, Gulshan-E-Zia, when unidentified attackers opened fire around 7:50 p.m.

A case was tabled at the Pakistan Bazaar police station under accusations of murder and anti-terrorism, with three unidentified armed men appointed suspect by his father Muhammad Kalam.

Kalam, in his declaration, said that around 7:50 p.m. he heard shots from the camp office.

Two of the attackers lacked office, jumped on a motorcycle and fled the scene, leaving Amir seriously injured.

Kalam rushed to the office and found his son injured. He immediately took Amir to Bismillah Chowk on a motorcycle, from where an ambulance transported him to Abbasi Shaheed hospital.

Unfortunately, Amir succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Kalam believes that his son was murdered for unknown reasons, perhaps linked to a personal or political dispute. However, the authorities still investigate the motive of the shooting.

The PPP condemned murder, demanding rapid action by the authorities.
