The president praises the “visionary” Aga Khan IV

Islamabad:

President Aif Zardari met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on Monday and presented his condolences on the death of his father Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, who died in the Portuguese capital last week, said the wing of the president of the president of Secretariat in a press release.

He said the president expressed sincere sympathies on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan. He said that the Pakistani nation had cried the loss of a “real friend” and “grand philanthropist”, whose “visionary leadership has improved people’s lives in the world.

The president welcomed the contributions of the late Aga Khan to the social and economic development of Pakistan, in particular in health care, education, community development and the reduction of poverty. He hoped that Prince Rahim would continue his father’s mission to serve the cause of humanity.

During his way to Lisbon, the president made a stopover at Istanbul airport and organized a brief meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two leaders discussed bilateral links, questions of mutual interest and exchanged courtesies.

The meeting between Zardari and Erdogan came while the Turkish president launched himself in a three -day visit to Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan. According to the Sabah Daily of Turkiye, Erdogan would visit Pakistan during the last stage of his tour.

He noted that Pakistani-Turkiye relations have reached the highest level under the successive tenures of the Turkish president. Two countries have particularly increased cooperation in the defense industry, agreements signed on the acquisition of naval ships and unixed air vehicles (UAU).

During the visit from February 10 to 13, the Erdogan meeting “would focus on improving cooperation in various fields, as well as hot subjects on the international agenda, from the Palestine-Israel conflict to the situation in Syria … as well as the conflict of Russia-Ukraine, “said the daily.
