Islamabad:
President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to bilateral cooperation with the Federation of Russia in the fields of trade, investment, technology and exchange of people with population on Tuesday.
Speaking during a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the Russian federation’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, the president underlined the growing momentum in Pakistani-Russia relations and expressed his confidence that the recent high-level interactions between the two countries have thrown a solid basis for a more in-depth commitment and a better understanding.
“I am convinced that the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Russia will continue to strengthen,” said the president, adding that the two nations have “immense potential to extend cooperation in trade, investment, technology and contacts from people to people”.
He described Russia as a “key world power” and highlighted its role in the promotion of regional peace and stability, in particular its role in the demorative of tensions between Pakistan and India.
The president extended warm congratulations to President Vladimir Putin, the Russian government and the people of Russia on this occasion.
