The president urges efforts to strengthen the economy

Islamabad:

President AIF Zardari on Monday, citing the vast development potential of the country, called for concerted efforts to build a robust and autonomous national economy.

The president, during a meeting with the leaders and workers of the Pakistani peoples of the Aiwan-E-Sadr on the occasion of Eid Ul-Azha, gave Eid’s greetings to them.

He congratulated workers as the party’s strength, recognizing their unshakable support during difficult times. He urged them to remain dedicated to the nation and to contribute to his progress.

He also called to work together for the country’s development and prosperity.

He underlined agriculture as the cornerstone of the national economy, stressing the need to prioritize its growth and to help farmers strengthen economic foundations.

The president expressing concerns about the increase in extremism in India, said that Indian minorities, in particular Muslims and Christians, faced discrimination and oppression.

The extremist Hindutva ideology of India constitutes threats to the whole region, he added.

He also underlined the deep historical, religious and cultural roots of Muslims in the subcontinent.
