President Donald Trump signed an executive decree on Thursday to restore the presidential physical conditioning test and the President’s advice on sports, physical condition and nutrition for American schoolchildren.
The origins of the presidential physical conditioning test date back to the 1950s under the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower established the President’s council on the physical form of young people in 1956, the Americans feared that their physical strength is lower than that of Europeans.
President John F. Kennedy relied on this idea in 1960 when he published a column in Sports Illustrated before taking office. The title of the play was called “The Soft American”. In the play, Kennedy deplored that there is “an increasing number of young Americans who neglect their body – whose physical form is not what it should be – which becomes soft. And such a sweetness on the part of individual citizens can help undress and destroy the vitality of a nation.”

“For the physical vigor of our citizens is one of the most precious resources in America. If we waste and neglect this resource, if we allow it to decrease and become gentle, we will destroy a large part of our ability to meet the great vital challenges that confront our people. We will not be able to achieve our full potential as a nation,” he added.
In 1966, the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson offered the prize program for physical condition. The children were put to the test and had to carry out situations, pull-ups or pumps and a sit-and-up test. The program recognizes those in the 85th centile or better.
A 1 mile race and a shuttle have also been added over the years because the presidents after Johnson shone the tests.
Over the years, the presidential physical conditioning test has been faced with a large criticism and not to take into account individual strength and physical makeup.
The presidential fitness test lasted throughout the 2012-13 school year when President Barack Obama removed it in favor of the fitness program for young presidential people. The presidential fitness test was replaced by fitnessgram, which adopted a holistic approach to the well-being of students.
The program has gone to “recognize sporting performance in the provision of a student health barometer”, according to a profile on the health.gov website.
“The presidential program of young people of Fitness emphasizes the value of living a physically active and healthy way of life – at school and beyond. The program minimizes comparisons between children and rather supports students while pursuing personal health fitness goals. Pala +, online training, school recognition programs, and more. “”
