Karachi:
A Balutch Yakjehti (BYC) protest in Karachi plunged older parts of the country’s economic center on Monday, including roadblocks and traffic jams before Iftar.
The BYC organized a demonstration in Fawara Chowk of the city, near the Sindh Assembly building, demanding the release of its arrested leaders, including Dr. Mahrung Baloch.
In response to the demonstration, the police blocked several roads paralyzing traffic in the surroundings. Strong congestion has been reported, the traffic police unable to effectively manage the situation.
Many citizens, stuck in Gridlock near the Karachi Press Club and Fawara Chowk, had to break the fast in the streets. The frustrated commuters criticized the traffic police for their persistent inability to manage such situations.
In a repression, the police also owned several people, including a leading woman BYC, for having allegedly violated article 144. The demonstrators responded with a rally against arrests.
According to traffic authorities, the closure of Deen Muhammad Wafai Road of Karachi and Sarwar Shaheed Road “For security reasons” The movement has slowed down on II Chundrigar Road, Shaheen Complex Chowk, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Mr. Kiyani Road, Aiwan-E-Sadr Road and Fawara Chowk.
