Peshawar:
The PTI under the auspices of an alliance of the opposition parties – the Tehreek Tahaffuz Ain -E -Pakistan (TTAP) – will launch its very praised protest movement against the “illegal” detention of the founder of the Imran Khan of tomorrow – Tuesday.
According to the protest plan, August 5 – the day Imran Khan was arrested in Lahore two years ago in a corruption case – will be observed as a dark day across the country.
“On August 5 (tomorrow), a national demonstration will be held under the flags of Pakistan, the PTI and the White Peace flag,” the secretary general of the TTAP announced on Sunday, at an emergency press conference, held on Sunday at the PTI district secretariat in Swabi.
He said that on August 5 marks the two -year completion since the “illegal” arrest of Imran Khan and the opposition will organize peaceful demonstrations throughout Pakistan.
Qaiser stressed that the movement would remain entirely in the constitutional and legal framework and would be carried out peacefully. He said that if there were evidence against Imran Khan, he should be presented in an open court on merit so that the nation can learn the truth.
He said that the judiciary was no longer independent and that judicial decisions are now influenced by the executive. “Imran Khan is the most popular leader and most worthy of this nation, which not only raised the image of Pakistan internationally but also gave the nation a vision,” he added.
“His legal and constitutional rights are violated, which is a direct attack on democracy, the constitution and the rule of law.”
Shahram Khan Tarakai of PTI, who also spoke during the press conference, said on August 5, provincial organizations and elected assemblies will organize demonstrations in various cities, adding that the TTAP and the PTI are fully prepared.
He stressed that the movement is not a temporary reaction but a sustained democratic struggle which will continue until its objectives are achieved. “Our movement is peaceful and we will prove once again that the supporters of Imran Khan are citizens respectful of the laws who respect the Constitution.”
He also declared that their struggle concerned the supremacy of the Constitution, the protection of fundamental human rights and judicial independence. “Each individual must raise their own voice for their rights – it is only then that it will be heard.”
Asad Qaiser, who was a speaker of the National Assembly during the reign of the PTI, demanded that the judges assure justice by rendering the verdicts to merit before the open courts with the media presence.
He called for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 thoroughly and those who tried responsible for being punished in accordance with the law.
He also questioned the state of weakening of the Parliament, noting that now an official of the government removes the words of the speeches of the members, “which reflects the degradation of the role of the speaker”.
Qaiser said that the party would soon decide whether or not to remain a part of the current parliamentary system. He demanded transparent legal proceedings in all the affairs in the process of the High Court of Islamabad concerning Imran, his wife Bushra Bibi and other party leaders, with complete protection of their legal and constitutional rights.
Speaking during a rally in Biner as part of the protest movement, the president of the PTI, Gohar Ali Khan, said that political tensions had intensified nationally after the events of May 9 and had not yet disappeared.
“Our members were submitted to legal affairs, punishments and disqualifications. MPA, MNA and PTI senators are declared ineligible, which adds only fuel to fire,” he added.
He said that Imran’s release demand is 70% of people, the voice of 170 million citizens. “This voice can no longer be removed because the voice of the people is the voice of democracy,” he said.
The PTI finalized its action plan for the demonstration of August 5, according to the instruction of Imran Khan.
Instead of walking towards Islamabad or holding a central rally, it has been decided that demonstrations will take place in each district. In Peshawar, a rally will be withdrawn from Hayatabad Toll Plaza to Qila Bala Hisar, who will continue in the night.
In the districts of Peshawar and Khyber, a rally will start at 3.30 p.m. from Hayatabad Toll Plaza on Ring Road and will go to Qila Bala Hisar, led by chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
In Swabi, the participants will meet at the Ambar interchange, and a day’s demonstration will take place. The demonstration will start at 3.30 p.m. and will continue until Isha does.
In Nowshera, party workers will meet in Khairabad, Nowshera and will also hold a day’s demonstration from 3.30 p.m. and continue until Isha Prayer.
All members of the National Assembly and the KP Assembly and ticket holders were invited to record videos of their gatherings from their Hujras, Deras or departure and submit them to their respective district organizations, which will then transmit them to regional leaders.
