Islamabad:

In a radical reshuffle of leadership, Pakistan Tehreek -e -insaf (PTI) was supported on Friday as opposition leaders at the National Assembly and in the Senate – Omar Ayub Khan and Shibli Faraz – were denote following their disqualification by the electoral commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The double moves, rooted in convictions linked to the riots of May 9, are especially while the leader of the party continues to grow thin and internal recalibrations accelerate, with the faithful senior Sher Afzal Marwat for a potential return.

The secretariat of the National Assembly, in a notification dated August 7, confirmed the withdrawal of Ayub.

“Unlike the disqualification and denotation of the opposition chief Omar Ayub Khan to be a member of the National Assembly (NA-18 Haripur) under article 63 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan-the office of the Opposition Head in the National Assembly became vacant with effect from August 5, 2025,” she read.

Likewise, the Senate secatariat has published a parallel notification indicating: “Consequently on the disqualification and de -notification of the head of the opposition to the Senate Senate Syed Shibli Faraz, to be a member of the Senate under article 63 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan – the Office of the opposition to the Senate has become vacant with the 5th was”.

The latest challenge adds to a growing loss list for PTI, which has recently seen three major leadership roles disappear in a single time. In addition to the release of Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul was relieved of his duties as a parliamentary chief, while Hmad Chatha lost his position as assistant parliamentary chief. The party also refused access to the chamber of the head of the opposition.

The fallout continues while Omar Ayub was removed from both the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Finance Committee. Seven other disqualified AMNs have been stripped of their memberships with various permanent committees, which represents a total loss of 15 PTI Committee slots, including key presidents.

Among the victims, Sahibzada Hamid Raza was withdrawn from president of the Standing Human Rights Committee, while Zartaj Gul lost his seat on the same forum. Rai Hassan Nawaz was also stripped of his role as president of the railway committee.

Another PTI oscilla

Meanwhile, PTI’s problems continued to climb while the seat of Sheikh Waqas Akram is heading for turbulence.

Akram seems to be examined after a motion by Noseen Iftikhar from PML-N seeking to declare his vacant seat. A decision is expected on August 11.

According to sources, the movement has gained ground after the year speaker has raised concerns concerning the prolonged absence of Akram.
