The Punjab rivers return to normal at the end of the monsoon: DG PDMA

The Punjab monsoon season ended and rivers flows returned to normal, the provincial director of disaster management (PDMA) said on Friday, Ali Kathia, while describing the damage caused by the province’s floods and rescue operations.

During a press conference, Kathia confirmed that all the rivers were now at normal levels. The Chenab does not show any peak from Marala to Panjnad and the water fell from Jassar to Sadhnai, although the Sutlej continues to wear a slightly higher flow.

He reported that 22 kilometers from the Multan – Sukkur (M -5) motorway (M -5) remain closed due to the floods, with 10 to 12 kilometers still underwater, but repair work is in progress. The Jalalpur – Lodhran route is also closed.
