Angela Kelly, who shared a close bond with Queen Elizabeth for 30 years, has finally broken her silence after being cut off from the palace.
The late monarch’s dresser and confidante has shared unforgettable memories she cherished with her best friend, revealing how the couple would dance around the royal household to the ABBA hit. Queen of dance.
In a rare interview, the late Queen’s trusted aide revealed they used to discuss “anything and everything”.
She was so closed that they drank tea together, exchanged jokes and anecdotes about their grandchildren.
Kelly, who says the Queen was her best friend, published two books with her former boss’ blessing about her life organizing her wardrobe, designing her dazzling looks and taking care of her jewelry.
After the late Queen’s death, she lost her house of grace and favor on the Windsor Estate and told her followers on Instagram: “I’m getting ready to say goodbye. I’m finally moving into my new house that I can finally call Home.”
In response to a friend, she said her work phone had been disconnected and added that she would be moving to the Peak District, near Sheffield, to a house provided by the king.
Later this week, six of Kelly’s outfits that she created for her former boss will be on display in an exhibition at Buckingham Palace called Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style.
The 68-year-old said Vanity Fair: “Every morning the Queen would listen to Terry Wogan’s show on Radio 2. When the song Dancing Queen came on, she loved it, and we would both dance. The Queen would move from side to side and sing.
And as the 100th anniversary of the late Queen’s birth approached, she remembered her for good reason, revealing: “Her Majesty loved to sing and had a good voice. I wasn’t. I would get carried away and dance all around her like I was in a disco, and the Queen would tell me to ‘move’ because I can’t sing and we would laugh. They were moments to cherish, to seeing the queen so relaxed.”
She also explained Queen’s love of her grandchildren and Easter gatherings, saying: “Family would visit her and she loved being a grandmother. Her Majesty would take her great-grandchildren horseback riding or walking. She would have barbecues and fun things and she would always do the dishes, even when she had the Prime Minister over.”
Angela’s close relationship with the late Queen also reportedly caused jealousy among other staff, with Kelly, once nicknamed “AK47”, joking: “I don’t have room for knives in my back anymore.”
