The Ramadan Punjab Ramadan package sees fraud by government representatives

A major fraud involving government representatives in the distribution of the Punjab Ramadan Package was discovered, the police launched an investigation into the issue.

The alleged fraud was committed in the “Ramadan Neghban Package” intended for the public, officials declared civil servants who diverted funds for disadvantaged news.

According to a report, officials took advantage of the package by pocketing the funds instead of distributing them to deserving beneficiaries.

Two government employees, including police officers and a third person were arrested as part of fraud, who involved checks of more than RS1.5 Lakh.

The police recorded a file against the suspects and recovered the amount which had already been collected by one of the accused.

The investigation revealed that the suspects had fraudulently cashed 17 checks, while 92 other checks had not yet been cashed. The accused, including employees of the Hafiz Abdul Rahman and Mazum Ali government, tried to keep the funds for the public.

The investigation was carried out by deputy commissioner Shalimar and the income agent Sabir Ali, who, after having apprehended the accused, presented them to the police. The case was filed under the complaint of Dr. Rizwan, responsible for the district health, at the Harbanspura police station.

As part of the Ramadan package, eligible people were supposed to receive a banking project of 10,000 rupees each. However, the accused officials diverted these funds, trying to collect them instead of delivering them to legitimate beneficiaries.

Police continue to investigate the case, the authorities now working to prevent other fraudulent activities in the future.
