Canadian Royal Royal Police (RCMP) have executed the largest cryptocurrency crisis in the country to date, recovering more than $ 56 million in CAD in crypto trade in exchange.
This decision not only marks a record crisis, but also the first time that the Canadian police authorities have dismantled a cryptocurrency trading platform, the RCMP said in a press release.
According to the division of the eastern region of authorities, the seizure followed a one -year investigation by the money laundering investigation team (MLIT). The case began in June 2024 after the arrival of a tip from Europol, which reported the alleged non-compliance of the Canadian law platform.
The investigators determined that Tradeogre had failed to register with financial transactions and Canada analysis reports (Fintrac) As an entreprise of monetary services and neglected to verify the identity of its customers, according to the authorities.
The RCMP relieves that most of the funds transmitted by Tradeogre came from illicit sources. By offering a creation of anonymous accounts, the platform provided an easy gateway to organized crimes groups seeking to hide the origins of their money, they say.
“The transaction data obtained from the platform will be analyzed and the costs can follow. The survey is underway,” the RCMP wrote in their press release.
