SIALKOT:
The Minister of Punjab of the Local Government, Mian Zeeshan Raique, visited the low zones of Siackot and examined the rescue measures carried out following record precipitation which submerged parts of the city.
Addressing the media in Rangpura Chowk, one of the most affected localities, the minister said that Siackot had witnessed unprecedented precipitation in its history, with 405 millimeters recorded in a single day, followed by an additional 110 millimeters during the night.
“This has created an emergency, but the government’s absolute priority is to ensure the security and relief of citizens,” he said.
The Minister assured that residents of the floods struck by the floods were moved to safe places and that the provincial government would compensate those who have undergone losses.
“Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is still with the people of Punjab in difficult times,” he said, adding that there would be no shortcomings in the government’s response to the crisis.
RADAY said that a check -up room established in the office of the assistant commissioner operated 24 hours a day to treat public complaints. He added that drainage and rescue operations would continue until the flow of water in nullah aik normalized.
He also declared that teams from the District, WASA and Corporation Municipal Administration were on the ground, distributing drinking water and basic necessities.
“Government services are constantly working in the last 48 hours, and I personally monitor operations to ensure that no negligence occurs,” said the minister.
