The decision of the Boston Red Sox to negotiate Rafael Devers sparked an intriguing reaction to the David Ortz baseball temple on Monday.
The Red Soxs exchanged incredibly loose to the Giants of San Francisco for four players, including Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks. The agreement marked the end of a saga between the Office and Devers, which started when Boston signed Alex Bregman.

The Red Sox asked Devers to leave the third goal – a request he refused. When Triston Casas was injured, Deves was not going to go to the first goal either. The manager of the Red Sox, Alex Cora, even called the devers as his designated striker.
The problem launched a snowball effect that ended with Boston Trading to the West team of the National League. Ortiz said to athletics that he knew that the situation with deours “was not going to end well”, but seemed to suggest that Devers lacked “maturity” in the situation.
“I have played for the Red Sox for a long time. You think that everything with me and the Red Sox was roses and flowers? Ortiz said that in the end, it is the organization that has the power to make the final decision, whatever the amount of money it owes to the player.
“I know that the communication between Devers and the Red Sox was not the best at the very beginning,” added Ortiz. “But at some point, you must realize that the organization has power over everyone. They can play you, exchange you, let you go.
“Sometimes, as a young player, it’s hard to understand this. But they have the power to do what they want. The only thing you can control is what you do on the field.”

Devers struck .272 with a .905 OPS and 15 circuits. He directed the American League in walks with 56 and had played the most matches in the majors (73).
