Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday that a package was being prepared as part of a complete and effective strategy to reduce electricity prices, which would soon be announced.
Chairing an examination meeting on issues related to the energy division, Shahbaz stressed that there was no change in government policy and priorities concerning solar energy.
“The promotion of renewable energies is the priority of the government,” said the Prime Minister, while addressing the meeting. “There was no change in government policy and priorities concerning solar energy.”
The Prime Minister ordered the authorities concerned to remove all the ambiguities found among the public concerning the solarization policy by presenting facts and figures.
He ordered to accelerate the privatization process of electricity distribution companies (Disco). “All legal and other questions concerning generation companies should be resolved as soon as possible,” he told participants.
Shehbaz said the public would receive more relief from electricity prices after energy sector reforms. “A package is being prepared in a complete and effective strategy to reduce electricity prices, which will be announced soon.”
The Prime Minister has ordered to further improve the coordination between the electricity division, the water resources division and the oil division for a complete strategy concerning the energy sector.
