Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones launched a few weeks ago and have already attracted many praise-see our review Sony Wh-1000XM6, for example. Now we have another reason to invest in a pair: they are easier to repair than the previous models.
According to IFIXIT experts, “Sony seems to have made a deliberate effort to design the WH-1000XM6 with a repair in mind”, and there have been adjustments in the way these headphones have been put in place.
Above all, says Ifixit, the battery inside the helmet is now fixed in place with two screws – rather than being stuck with the double -sided adhesive which was used for the Sony Wh -1000xm5, which was launched in 2022.
The plaque with a modular half -plaque is also simple to replace, known as Ifixit – there is no glue to manage, and the component can be obtained without risk of damaging the other parts of the interior of the headphones.
Easily accessible components

IFIXIT also reports that the USB-C port, the audio socket and the button card are “easily accessible”, which facilitates repairs. The idea is that if part of the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones fail, you don’t have to replace them completely.
This is not all good news on the repair front: Ifixit says that there is not much improvement with regard to the banner, so if there is a problem with this part of the device, you may need to get a new pair.
Of course, when we say that the Sony WH-1000XM6 is easier to repair, you always need a certain amount of technical know-how and certain specialized tools for work. However, the work is now simpler, than you do it yourself or take it in a repair workshop.
