A new study by one of the best web hosting providers reveals how computer leaders weigh compromise between virtual private servers and dedicated servers, with decisions shaped by cost pressure and long -term infrastructure planning.
The liquid web survey of 1,000 managers shows that accommodation choices in 2025 are made as much for growth and resilience as for technical performance.
Performance remains the main engine, however, 36% of respondents saying that it was their maximum consideration, slightly ahead of the cost of 35%.
Support a major factor
Users of dedicated servers were more likely to cite performance and safety, while VPS users have looked at affordability and scalability.
VPS users were also more likely than dedicated users to anticipate exceeding their current environment, at 71% against 64%.
Unsurprisingly, support continues to be a major factor of choice. Almost 80% said that 24/7 technical support was extremely important, a high consideration.
Carrie Wheeler, president of Liquid Web, told Techradar Pro: “Do not underestimate the value of support 24 hours a day, it is the safeguard that transforms technological challenges into availability victories.”
More than a third reported significant breakdowns due to delayed or inadequate support.
Two out of five leaders admitted to having delayed product launches because their infrastructure was not ready.
Live cat and telephone support remain the most favorite response channels, while only 15% would first take place in IA chatbots or self-service portals.
The differences in workload also play a factor. The dedicated servers were more likely to host databases and electronic commerce platforms, while VPS deployments have looked at web applications, test environments and game servers.
Almost half of the adopters of dedicated servers indicated stronger and more stable performance as a reason for their choice.
Sustainability and compliance are increasing concerns. 39% said the environmental impact had an influence on infrastructure choices, 75% ready to pay more for a low -carbon accommodation solution.
85% of respondents also cited preparation for compliance as essential.
The point to remember overall seems to suggest that VPS accommodation continues to appeal to the thinner teams and organizations concerned about the budget, while dedicated servers are chosen for workloads requiring control, stability and security.

With almost half of the planning infrastructure changes during the year, the balance between cost, performance and support seems to remain a determining factor.
