Thursday, officers superior to the retirement of the Pakistani army submitted a request to a court of responsibility of Rawalpindi, requesting the license to meet the imprisoned founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf at the Adiala central prison.
The four candidates include Major-General (RETD) Masood Burki, Lieutenant-General (RETD) Zahid Akbar, Lieutenant-General (RETD) Sikandar AFZAL, and Lieutenant-General (RETD) Faroo Khan.
The 71 -year -old cricket player who has become a politician has been behind bars since August 2023 after being reserved in multiple cases ranging from corruption to terrorism since his evidence of power via the motion without confidence in the opposition in April 2022.
In their plea, deposited through lawyer Ahsan Ayaz Khan, army officers cited that they had a long association with the founder of the PTI.
“It is necessary to meet the founder of the PTI to discuss certain important questions,” said the retired army officers.
By seeking permission to meet the former Prime Minister, they urged the court to organize their meeting with Khan as soon as possible to discuss “important national questions”, they added.
The request was filed before the ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah.
