The Idealab technological startup incubator confirmed that it had undergone a cyber attack in which it has lost sensitive corporate files.
The organization confirmed the news after an in -depth investigation which took almost a year, noting in a letter of notification of data violation sent earlier to the affected persons, the attack most likely took place on October 4, 2024, when the cybercriminals reached its network and stolen sensitive information on current and former employees, the entrepreneurs of current and old support services, and their services.
We do not know exactly how many people have been affected by this attack, nor what the nature of the data is. Idealab has just said that the attackers took people’s names, in combination with “variable data”.

However, it offers people affected protection services against additional identity theft via IDX, which includes 24 months of dark web credit and web surveillance, a reimbursement policy of the identity of $ 1 million and fully managed identity flight recovery services.
At the same time, the media reported that a ransomware operation known as Hunters International took responsibility for the attack, adding stolen data to its flight site, probably after a failed extortion attempt.
It would be allegedly, the disclosed archive was 262.8 GB and contained 137,000 files. Interestingly, earlier in the day, Hunters International announced that it was dissolved, apologized for the disadvantages caused and shared decryption keys for all its victims.
