The royal family shared the details of Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, visit to Belgium.
In a press release on their official website, the palace said that the Duke visited the site of the historic battlefield of Waterloo and the Hougoumont farm.
First of all, the Duke met 10 international students Gold Award, they discussed their experiences of participation in the price.
At the Waterloo Museum 1815, the Duke met staff members and participated in a visit to the museum where he saw exhibitions, including tactics, weapons, Apsley House and the Cotton collection.
Then he visited the historic battlefield of Waterloo and the Hougoumont farm.
At the farm, they currently restore the gardens, with the hope of welcoming visitors to the future.
Prince Edward had the opportunity to learn more about the current catering and the next phase of the project. The objective is to rekindle the historic orchard of the site, vegetable plots and to restore the French formal garden to the way in 1815, on the day of the battle.
With British and French monuments, the Duke posed crowns to pay tribute to the dead. He also visited the sight of the old battlefield.
In the gardens, he was invited to plant “Tree of Peace” seeds (Hiroshima Ginko). The young tree that the Duke planted descends from a tree that survived the atomic bomb in 1945.
