- The Samsung display will soon start en masse producing foldable phone screens for a North American customer
- This customer is most likely Apple, suggesting that iPhone fold could land next year
- Thanks to previous leaks, we have a good idea of what to expect from the phone
At this point, most rumors suggest that the foldable iPhone – or the iPhone fold as we could call it – will be launched next year, and now it seems even more likely, as a surprising source has suggested so much.
You see, according to Chosunbiz (via Phone Arena), the president of Samsung Display, Lee Cheong, said that the company was preparing to produce foldable telephone panels for a North American customer.
Now, this customer is not appointed, but the obvious candidate is Apple, since the foldable iPhone should land next year, and since the Samsung display is already making iPhone screens.
It is therefore perhaps the clearest sign that the iPhone fold will indeed land in 2026, although if this is the case, we imagine that it will land in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 series, so there could still be an expectation.
Impressive characteristics at a premium price
It remains to be seen if the iPhone fold is worth it, but the leaks and rumors have given us an idea of what to expect.
On the one hand, we have heard that he could use Touch ID rather than Face ID, and that he could have an underdiffusée camera of 24 MP, which – coupled with the lack of components of facial identification – could make it the first iPhone with a really screen design.
The foldable iPhone could also have a fold -free screen, with this foldable screen possibly 7.74 inch and be joined by a 5.49 -inch blanket screen.
It can only be 4.8 mm thick when unfolded, which makes it even thinner than 5.6 mm iPhone air, and it could have two 48 MP rear cameras – as well as a selfie camera on each screen.
All of this is sure to come at a high price, and although rumors are disagreeing on the exact price, the most recent we heard is $ 1,999 (about £ 1,500 / $ 3,050 in).
So maybe waiting for the iPhone fold next September is not such a bad thing, because it will at least give Apple fans a lot of time to save.
