- The Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro could have the same cameras as the latest generations of phones
- It could also have an Exynos 2600 chipset, at least in most regions
- Battery capacity could be increased to 4,300 mAh
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro – which would be the name of the base Galaxy S26 – really doesn’t sound very ‘Pro’, with the latest leak suggesting that in some ways it might not even be an upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S25.
According to leaker Erencan Yilmaz (via NotebookCheck), who claims to have found this information in the latest version of One UI 8.5, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will have the exact same 50 MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor for its main camera as the Galaxy S25, which is actually the sensor Samsung has been using since the Galaxy S22.
It will also apparently feature the same 10MP S5K3K1 telephoto lens that Samsung has used since the Galaxy S22 series, and the same 12MP IMX564 sensor for ultra-wide shots that has been used since the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, with the 12MP S5K3LU front camera also dating back to the Galaxy S23.

So that would mean no real changes several years from now for the camera hardware, and therefore probably no real reason to buy the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro if you were mainly hoping for camera upgrades.
It’s worth noting that this is at odds with some previous leaks, one of which suggested that another 50 MP main sensor would be used, and the other of which pointed to a new 50 MP ultra-wide camera. Although the source of this second leak called this upgrade “unnecessary,” regardless, things don’t look promising for the Galaxy S26 Pro’s cameras.
Exynos power and bigger battery
Beyond the camera, today’s leak also points to an Exynos 2600 chipset, which is also a bit disappointing, as it’s unlikely to be as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 which is expected to power many of the best Android phones of 2026. Still, US buyers can at least get the Snapdragon based on its past form.
Finally, this leak mentions a 4,300 mAh battery, which would thankfully be an upgrade over the Samsung Galaxy S25’s 4,000 mAh battery. And this battery boost is a claim we’ve also heard previously, so it might just be accurate.
We should find out exactly what the Galaxy S26 Pro has to offer in January or February, but between these unpromising leaks and reports that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge has been canceled, 2026 might not be a banner year for Samsung.
