- The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could be much thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro Max
- However, not all sources are suitable for the importance of Samsung’s phone
- The next flagship to come from Samsung could also have more RAM than its predecessor, among other changes of specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max are undoubtedly two of the most anticipated telephony versions, but although they are both for sure in most areas, the Galaxy S26 Ultra can have the advantage at least in a way.
According to @universeice – a leak with a good assessment – the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have less than 8 mm thick, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have 8.76 mm thick.
We have already heard almost this thickness for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with another source saying that it will have an 8.75 mm thick, but this is the first time that we hear the thickness of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The conceptions of the iPhone16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra are the closest at the moment, and their length, their width and thickness are fundamentally the same. However, iPhone17 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra will be the start of two completely different conceptions. The thickness of the iPhone 17 …July 6, 2025
If this last leak is correct, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be much thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and – as the source points out – this could also be a sign of divergent design philosophies for these two brands, because although the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max is almost thick, 8.2 mm and 8.3 mm respectively. This change would see Samsung decrease in its flagship product, while Apple goes in the opposite direction.
This source also claims that the difference in weight between these phones will be even greater, although they do not specify how much each handset will weigh.
However, although the source of this leak has a good assessment, we take it with a pinch of salt, especially since another leak of ultra specifications of Samsung Galaxy S26 suggests that the phone will rather 8.1 mm thick.
This comes from the @pandaflashpro leak (via Notebookcheck), and although they do not have as many balance sheets to continue as @universeice, they have properly disclosed Samsung information in the past.
A new chipset and more RAM
It is not the only Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Detail @PandaflashPro fled, because they also claim that it will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, and a similar 6.9 -inch screen with the current model, just with different shovels (probably smaller).
In addition, they declare that the number and arrangement of the lenses of the camera will remain the same, just without the large camera rings found on the S25 Ultra, and that there will be a main camera of 200 MP again, but that it will be to pack a new goal.
Once again, there will also be an ultra-large 50MP camera, a 5X 50MP telephoto lens and a 3X telephoto lens which may or may not have a new sensor.
In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the 3X telephoto lens has a 10 MP sensor, but the company has not decided to replace it or not. The front camera will however be apparently improved, with new features such as video recording at 4K 120FS.
@PandaflashPro also says that storage will remain unchanged, with configurations of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB which should be offered, and all this would have come with 16 GB of RAM, while in the case of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, they will come with 12 GB.
The other specifications listed include a 20% larger steam room and the return of a 5,000 mAh battery with a 45W wired load. As with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, it would also charge the Qi2 magnetic wireless load – but only with the addition of a magnetic case.
But with the Samsung Galaxy S26 ultra unlikely to land until the beginning of next year, we take all this with a pinch of salt, because it is still very early for leaks and rumors. Before that, we expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, which will probably land on July 9.
