- Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be thinner, lighter and more durable than the previous model
- The company also seems to say that the same will be true for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
- Unsurprisingly, these phones would also be the most advanced folders of the company
We expect the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 to be unveiled in July, but before Samsung already teases these devices, and a new blog gives us an idea of what to expect from their conceptions.
An article on Samsung Newsroom specifically indicates that “the new Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, the lightest and the most advanced to date”.
So, in other words, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be thinner and lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and although the article seems to be focused on the fold, it indicates ‘Galaxy Z’ rather than ‘Galaxy Z Fold’, suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will also be finer and lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung is not precise on thin and light, but leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z 7 fold could only 3.9 mm thick when unfolded and 8.2 mm or 8.9 mm thick when folded. It is down 5.6 mm and 12.1 mm for the PLU Z 6 when it is unfolded and folded respectively. The Z Fold 6 is also 239g, so the Galaxy Z Fold 7 should be lighter than that.
Before today, we had not heard any report on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 being thinner, but for reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is 6.9 mm thick when it is unfolded and 14.9 mm when folded, and it weighs 187 g.
Built
In addition to being thinner and lighter than their predecessors, the upcoming foldables of Samsung will also be more advanced and more sustainable according to this article.
It would be surprising that they were not more advanced, but to hear that they are ready to be more durable is reassuring, because foldable phones are intrinsically quite fragile.
Again, Samsung is not precise on how sustainability will be improved, but leaks have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could have a more durable hinged mechanism, while the first could also have better water resistance and a difficult titanium rear plate.
We should discover exactly what Samsung improvements have been planned soon, because leaks suggest that the two phones could land on July 10.
