Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) and Senator Hamid Khan expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment of the chief judge, declaring that the chosen chief judge is Lessoor Ali Shah. He also accused some people in the Supreme Court of defending himself with the establishment.
The remarks were made during the lawyer convention held at the Bar of the High Court of Lahore. The Convention was organized under the theme “Impact of the 26th amendment on the judiciary”.
Several eminent legal personalities attended the event, notably Senator Hamid Khan, the president of the Lahore High Court Bar, Asad Manzoor But, and the president of the Lahore bar, Mubashar Rehman. The former presidents of the high court bar Ahmed Owais, Shafqat Chauhan and Ishtiaq in Khan, as well as the former vice-president Rabbiya Bajwa and other legal experts from all over the country, also participated.
Movement against the 26th amendment
Addressing the Convention, the head of the PTI, Hamid Khan, said that the lawyer’s movement against the 26th amendment had started and finally canceled the amendment. He stressed that their struggle was growing and that legal organizations had deposited petitions against the amendment, demanding that a complete bench of 16 judges hears the case.
He criticized the Supreme Court, claiming that some people in the judiciary supported the establishment. “Acceptance by the chief judge of the post has greatly disappointed us. For us, judge Mansoor Ali Shah is the legitimate chief judge, “he said. He also promised to resist any attempt to fulfill the Supreme Court of Political Motivation appointments.
Hamid Khan also argued that the 26th amendment had been adopted without appropriate parliamentary conscience. “It is not a parliament; It’s just a game of figures. Even the Prime Minister and the Minister of Law were not aware of the details of the amendment. It is a government formed by form 47, “he noted, referring to alleged electoral irregularities.
He accused the chief judge Qazi Faez Isa of allowing horse trade and defending the decision under article 63-A, saying that it was entirely justified. He also revealed that on the day of the adoption of the amendment, a senator had been brought during his dialysis, and another son of the senator would have been removed to force her to vote.
Appeal to the independence of the judiciary
The legal representative of PTI said that the amendment was unconstitutional and that the current government was only an administration of puppets. “Everyone knows that we have been defeated. Negotiations with thieves are simply not possible, “he said.
Meanwhile, the president of Insaf lawyers, Ishtiaq A. Khan, also addressed the Convention, accusing a certain group of detention of the bar advice hostage and the appointment of the judges of their choice to establish the control of the judiciary. He called on the judges to take a stand against the unconstitutional amendment.
He also declared that lawyers would continue their movement until the illegitimate amendment. “We demand that the full court before the 26th amendment hears this case,” he concluded.
The Convention marked a strong position by the legal fraternity against the 26th amendment, reporting new legal and political battles to come.
