The Senate unanimously condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack aimed at a school bus in the Khuzdar district of the Balutchistan province, which has cost several children.
The legislators qualified the inhuman incident and required rapid measures against terrorist groups supported by India which would operate in the region.
Vice-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfan-Uul-Haq Siddiqui, and others spoke of the role of India in the support of terrorism in Pakistan, calling for firm action against external threats.
In his speech, Senator Anwar Ul Haq Kakar highlighted the need to combat the loss of innocent lives and to hold responsible for groups with extremist ideologies, in particular those associated with the RSS and the BJP of India, for incentive to violence in Pakistan.
Senator IRFAN-UL-HAQ SIDDIQUS also condemned Khuzdar’s attack, saying that such violence was unimaginable to be inflicted on innocent schoolchildren.
He rejected any sympathy for the terrorists and called for decisive military action to eliminate the authors. “I spent my whole life with words, but I am short of words to describe the pure brutality of this incident,” said Siddiqui.
Senator Sherry Rehman joined to condemn the attack, appealing to an act of inhumanity.
It has reaffirmed the unshakable position of Pakistan against terrorism, referring to past anti-terrorist operations and evidence of Indian involvement in terrorist activities.
Rehman stressed that no dialogue should take place with those who target innocent civilians. “There can be no talks with such forces of violence,” she said.
The Aimal of the National Party of Awami, Wali Khan, condemned brutality to children, comparing it to a cruelty which “would not even be inflicted on animals”.
He criticized the persistent cycle of blame and inaction, claiming that without the appropriate implementation of policies such as the national action plan, such tragedies would continue.
“For 50 years, we waited for the next incident, blamed others and we left,” he said.
Khan has also raised concerns about the negligence of Waziristan and other tribal areas, highlighting the lack of digital tools and basic infrastructure for children growing up in these regions.
“Our children grow without basic digital tools,” he said. He expressed his frustration in the face of the disrespectful language of a government official in the Senate committees, saying: “We are not here to be insulted.”
He called for the resignation of the civil servant involved, stressing that the question was not personal but was to represent the oppressed of Waziristan and Pakistan as a whole.
Vawda is looking for an increase in defense spending
Senator Faisal Vawda called for a significant increase in the Pakistan defense budget, arguing for the doubling of military personnel wages in response to increased security problems, especially after recent tensions with India.
During a Senate session, Vawda proposed that Pakistan favors defense spending over the national development budget, citing the growing security threats that the country is faced. “We have to tighten our belts and reduce the development budget to increase defense expenses”, “
Vawda said, asking that the wages of the armed forces be doubled to reflect the seriousness of the situation. With Pakistan’s recent response to India’s provocations – including the death of 285 Indian soldiers in border clashes – VAWDA stressed that India’s military and historical aggression required strategic change in the country’s defense priorities.
Vawda has also called for political unity, stressing that the government and the opposition must work together to defend the country. “This initiative can only succeed if all political parties unite under a single flag,” he added.
