The Senate panel directs the start of the highway

Islamabad:

The Senate on planning committee ordered the authorities concerned to start the construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway during the current financial year, noting that the construction of large roads was the responsibility of the federal government.

The Committee that met here its president Quratul Ain Marri in the president expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of planning of the flagship program “Uraan Pakistan” because the officials of the ministry did not answer the questions of the members.

During the meeting, officials of the Ministry of Planning informed the participants of the Uraan Pakistan program. They said the country’s exports would increase $ 40 billion during the current financial year, while the government was aimed at increasing them to $ 60 billion over the next five years.

The member of the committee, Shahadat Awan, raised the question of the problem of water in the country and questioned the ministry in all levels to attenuate this issue. He also asked if the provinces had been confidently taken on the issue of building six new channels in the Industry river.

However, ministry officials were unable to satisfy the Uraan Pakistan Committee. The president observed that the Pakistan Uraan program or his “vision is good, but what will be the implementation procedure?”

Another member of the committee, Zeeshan Khanzada, said that the ministry did not have the details concerning the implementation of the program. He complained that the competent authorities, including the Minister of Planning, were not available at the meeting either to provide answers.

At the start of the meeting, the president expressed his dissatisfaction with the absence of the minister. Marri told the committee that the meeting had been delayed until February 19 at the request of the Minister’s office, but he did not arise.
