The ship leaves Hormuz and docks in Karachi

KARACHI:

The MV SELEN arrived at the port of Karachi on Saturday, becoming the first Pakistan-bound ship to do so after the Strait of Hormuz reopened following more than a month of disruption caused by the Middle East conflict.

In a statement, the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) said: “MV SELEN, operated by NLC (AP Line), has docked at the Port of Karachi, marking the arrival of the first container ship bound for Pakistan following the recent disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. » He added that the ship, arriving from Jebel Ali, marked the resumption of containerized trade and strengthened confidence in maritime supply chains.

The KPT said the development reflected effective coordination between port, maritime and logistics stakeholders to support cargo operations.

Although the Strait of Hormuz has remained disrupted since the attack on Iran by the United States and Israel on February 28, Pakistan has continued to receive oil shipments, the first of which arrived on March 18. It has also facilitated the passage of other shipments, with its flagged carriers operating under agreements with Iran, allowing containers to transit the strait.
