The Sindh government has announced scholarships for six deserving students to study at the University of Oxford, marking an important step in the Bunazir Bhutto graduate.

The announcement occurred after a memorandum of understanding was signed in London, officially facilitating these opportunities.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, President of the People’s Party of Pakistan (PPP), which stressed the importance of education and empowerment during the ceremony.

Head Minister Murad Ali Shah revealed that three students and three Sindh students would receive these scholarships each year, in collaboration with Oxford Pakistan.

“These scholarships have been part of the longtime initiative of the Sindh government to help students carry out higher education abroad,” said chief minister Shah.

The scholarships are part of the Bhutto program and aim to promote academic excellence in fields such as science, technology and engineering.

During a visit to the University of Oxford, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari thought about his mother’s legacy, Benazir Bhutto, who fought for the improvement of the future of Pakistan. He reiterated his conviction that “democracy is the best revenge”, stressing that despite important societal restrictions on women, his mother became the first Prime Minister of Pakistan. Bilawal stressed that the future of Pakistan is linked to constitutional supremacy, an independent judicial system and free journalism.

Bilawal condemned the NAB (National Accountability Bureau) as a “draconian law” and reiterated the position of the PPP against it, emphasizing the role of the party in improving basic health establishments in the Sindh. He also expressed his concern in the face of the security situation in Balutchistan and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security of his nuclear assets.

In addition to Oxford scholarships, the Sindh government has also approved 3,157 new scholarships for the academic year 2023-2024, emphasizing the offer of opportunities to talented students through the Sindh Education Endowment Fund.

In a statement, chief minister Shah stressed that these scholarships are part of the provincial government’s efforts to provide opportunities to talented and needy students, as part of their educational development.

He also discussed the situation of crime in Karachi, declaring that despite the population of more than 20 million people in the city, efforts are in the process of being made of the City Program to improve the safety of residents.
