This week, Samsung boldly unveils some of its most remarkable folding phones of all time. They are thinner, lighter, smarter and, yes, more expensive. In the United States, at least, this trend can continue more dramaticly if President Trump advances with his 25% tariff on the goods produced in South Korea.
Perhaps you did not know that despite its ubiquity in the United States, Samsung is based and operated in South Korea. Like many global technological companies, it manufactures products in its attachment base, as well as in Vietnam, India and Taiwan. In the United States, President Donald Trump is trying to bring manufacturing back to the American coast and mainly by the coercion of prices, which are essentially taxes applied to all goods sent to the United States. It is a cost that certain concerns will ultimately be transmitted to the consumer.
Although it does not deal directly with the price of Galaxy Z Fold 7 mobile devices and other Samsung, Samsung mobile devices, the executive vice-president of the Dave Das mobile experience, said, during a breakfast panel unpacked from Samsung this week in response to a question on the impact of prices, “I will say that the chips are not entirely fell where they could.”
Das joked: “The situation is so fluid, so quickly changing, that I feel like I have to check my phone right now to make sure that everything I say is always applicable.”
Samsung, according to DAS, could be in better position – at least because it refers to mobile products – to withstand these rapidly changing rapidly evolving commercial circumstances. “I think that one of the greatest forces in Samsung is the way we are agile and flexible,” said DAS, referring to Samsung’s skills in the manufacture and management of the supply chain.
His team plays various scenarios, but they also keep the communication routes open. “We are working in close collaboration with this administration to ensure that whatever happens, Samsung is able to deliver the best products, the best experiences, the best services to American consumers at an attractive price and a competitive price.”
DAS did not specifically speak of a product or reference to the price increase of $ 100 on the latest Z Fold model, although it is fair to assume that this adjustment concerns less pricing concerns and more on the more expensive components (the new 200MP sensor) and manufacturing (thickness of 4.2 mm).
A dynamic situation
Flexibility in the rapidly evolving price image is the key, noted the DAS, adding that the team wants to manage and “work with the administration, again, to make sure to stay on the course and to focus and that we deliver excellent products”.
It is a solid and rational response to what can be irrational forces. Keep track of the place where the American administration applies prices and by how almost impossible because it has changed otherwise on time, so certainly day by day.
As I write this, prices on South Korea could match 25%. As you read it, it could be lower or upper. What will be the most important for consumers is what they will pay for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, 7 Flip Fe, Z Fold 7 and all these marvelous combined Galaxy S25.
