The emotions were at the top of the Boston skating club Thursday after six people related to the organization died in a plane crash near Reagan international airport on Wednesday evening.
Among those who spoke, there was the Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, who could not retain tears while speaking of the accident.
President Donald Trump said there were no survivors after an American Airlines plane collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter.
The plane was carrying 64 people, including Jinna Han and Spencer Lane adolescent skaters, their mothers Jin Han and Christine Lane and their coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

Three members of the Boston skating club – Misha Mitrofanov, Jimmy Ma and Alisa Efimova – also talked about their peers, who, according to them, were the next generation of Hope Olympians.
“The potential they showed on the ice and the abilities they had at such a young age have shown that they were promising for the future of this sport,” Mitofanov said on Thursday, the partner of which is Efimova.
Mitrofanov and Efimova had just won the 2025 American figure skating skating championships in Wichita, Kansas, in the pairs discipline. This is where the theft of American Airlines came from. Han and Lane returned from a development camp during the weekend.

“The camp brings them mainly for the championships so that they can look, for example, Jimmy, or at least an ice skate at a championship level,” said Mitrofanov. “Thereafter, they are part of a fairly strict routine. … Lots of training, a lot of exercises and exercises that American figure skating wants to see.”
Han, 13, and Lane, 16, were chosen for the development camp due to the promise they showed, and was frank on the promise of these two skaters.
“Absolutely phenomenal,” said my. “If I was their age when I was their age, they were blowing me out of the water. Even Jinna, at 13, I couldn’t do anything. She was already 10 times better than me at such a young age.

“They showed skating at the championship level. It would take time to develop to maximize their full potential. But the amount they have been able to reach in such a short time was absolutely remarkable.”
Efimova said that campers had been spotted in the crowd in the red jackets they would wear, and while working with Mitofanov to win in pairs, she used their applause as motivation.
“They have all these red jackets, so you can really, really, really identify this community during the competition, which helps me personally bring a lot of joy in skating,” said Efimova.
MA also pointed out how Shishkova and Naumov, winners, winners of the 1994 world championships, participated in two Olympic Games, were coaches.
“Their meticle in the development of young skaters is almost unprecedented,” said my. “You could say by their son, Max, whom I consider not only a friend, but a fierce competitor. I look at him every day, I Says: “Damn, I have to do better. “It was all them.”

The Boston skating club was not the only artistic skating community that was touched by it. The Philadelphia Skating Club & Humane Society posted on social networks that the “beloved members” of his team were on the flight. Skating coach Alexandr Kirsanov and two of his youth skaters were also on the fight, according to Kirsanov’s wife, by ABC News.
“American figure skating can confirm that several members of our skating community were unfortunately aboard the American Airlines Flight 5342 flight, which collided with a helicopter last night in Washington, DC,” said American figure skating in a press release. “We are devastated by this indescribable tragedy and closely hold the families of the victims in our hearts.”
While the world of figure skating and other people affected by the accident cry the losses of relatives, Mitrofanov said that skaters will continue to train and compete with their “family” in mind.

“Watching these children skate and watch their fire and their love for sport is what helped us continue to train,” said Mitrofanov. “Looking at these children to develop helps us to want to push us too. It is a double -meaning street that they admire us, but we are also looking at them.”
