Cunningham recalled its 2024 season with the Phoenix Mercury in its argument according to which the power of Clark’s Star led to more severe treatment on the field of competitors during its recruit season.

This is not the first time that Cunningham has come to the defense of Clark. She intervened earlier this season during an altercation on the field between Clark and Sun Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey.

Clark generally rejected ideas that other WNBA players focus on her despite the outcry of certain fans on the perceived lack of calls for referees in favor of fever custody. Last season, she suggested that she had faced an unusual level of adversaries.
“I think everyone is physical with me. They get by with things with whom other people probably do not get away,” said Clark in 2024, according to the Associated Press. “It’s difficult, but it’s just the fact.
Clark added that the style of physical play is part of the competition.
“It’s a very physical game, and you’re going to put pressure on it. It’s a professional basketball. This is what it is, honestly,” she said.
Earlier this month, colleagues from Clark’s WNBA played voted the ninth best League goalkeeper. Clark only played 13 games this season due to several injuries. It has an average of 16.5 points per competition, a few points below its average in 2025.
