Washington Capitals Star TJ Oshie described it as a career after 16 seasons in the NHL.
The Stanley Cup champion, who helped the American team win the Russia in the 2014 Sochi in Russia Olympic Gamesannounced its decision on Monday while addressing fans of the Washington port in Georgetown.

“Seven years ago, my teammates and I were swimming in this fountain to celebrate an incredible moment in our career,” said Oshie, recalling the capitals’ Stanley Cup Celebrations in 2018. “I do not thank the caps enough. Another first class movement by them for having my retirement here, inviting all the people. It really made this day special.”
OSHIE, 38, was written in the first round of the 2005 NHL recovery by the Blues de Saint-LouisWhere he played seven seasons before being exchanged in Washington in 2015. He recorded 192 goals and 193 assists (385 points) in 567 games with the capital, only dragging Alex Ovechkin for the most goals of the team.

“I would like to thank the capitals of Washington and the Blues of Saint-Louis for giving me the opportunity to play the game I like, all my teammates who fought with me every evening, my coaches who challenged me to be better every day, and the staff of the sports coaches and the equipment that prepared me to play,” Oshie said in a statement provided by the National Hockey League Association.
“I also want to thank fans, your energy and your passion made every match memorable, and it was an honor to play in front of you.”

One of his most memorable moments, which earned him the title of Olympic hero, was in 2014 when he scored four goals in shooting during the United States victory over Russia during the preliminary round of the Sochi Games.
“I like to think that when I played, that I played for my teammates, for my coaches, for my family, for my fans. I have rarely thought of my own distinctions,” Oshie said on Monday. “To be recalled (as a type of” warrior “player) is a huge honor because it was my goal and the way I played the game.”
