While his Boston Celtics will fight to keep their season alive on Wednesday evening, Jayson Tatum underwent a successful surgery to repair an Achilles tendon that broke in a defeat of the match 4 against the New York Knicks.
The path to the recovery of Tatum begins now, and he spoke for the first time since he was injured in the fourth quarter of the match 4, which could make him miss all the season of the NBA 2025-26.
Tatum posted a photo of him in a hospital bed after surgery with a boost.

“Recognizing for all love and supporters (prayer emoji),” wrote Tatum in an Instagram legend.
The Celtics have published their own Tatum screenshot, saying: “The return will be greater than the reverse.”

Tatum had his best performances in the playoff series in 2025, scoring 42 points out of 16 of the 28 shots with seven points of 3 points against the Knicks in match 4. He also had eight rebounds, four assists and four interceptions.
Boston was down at the time of the injury, and Tatum tried to plant on his right foot to go after a loose bullet, but he immediately hit the ground with pain.

Tatum was helped out of the field by Celtics staff, and the crowd of Madison Square Garden applauded in a demonstration of respect while he was heading for the locker room. MRI results the next day confirmed what the team feared. Tatum had a torn Achilles which required surgery.
It will be a long trip to Tatum, which will probably make its fourth consecutive team from the NBA. He played in the victory of the Celtics NBA finals against the Dallas Mavericks last season.
The Celtics hoped to go consecutive, and although many thought they would cross the Knicks in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference, Boston exploded two 20-point deficits in matches 1 and 2 to fall into a 2-0 hole.

The Celtics won match 3 on the road, and the defeat of match 4 experienced more ramifications than faced a 5 -TD Garden elimination match.
