Calmar game Star Park Gyu-Young revealed how grateful she was to play as a guard in the successful show.
In Calmar game, The sadistic game guards draw competitors if they fail to finish the game. The guards wear pink overalls with masks that completely cover the face.
The second season of the show also explored the backstories of the guards, giving fans an overview of the character of Park, Kang No-Eul, the heartbreaking story.
“Even if we saw a lot of pink guards in the first season, we could not see the human side,” said Park, by The mirror.
“We have just considered them as very ruthless people, but they must have their stories. They must have their emotions. So, I was very honored to be able to play this character, no-eul, in the seasons two and three,” she thought.
“The stories of the pink guards and the emotional landscape they hold … I think it was very significant that we have an overview on the other side of the system,” she added.
Elsewhere, Park noted that it was difficult to breathe and act while carrying the masks, but it is a small price to pay to play in the biggest Netflix show.
Park said, “I know it’s a beautiful costume, but if you really wear it … it’s really hot,” she said.
“It’s a bit difficult to breathe and even difficult to speak in these masks,” she continued.
Park Gyu-Young added: “But I was really delighted to wear these costumes because the pink guard is one of the most emblematic characters in Calmar’s game. So I didn’t care.”
