The Eagles of Philadelphia left with their first victory of the 2025 season on Thursday evening, but an offensive star was surprisingly silent throughout.
The receiver of the veteran AJ Brown, the best option to take the team’s passes, was practically nonexistent in the 24-20 victory for Philadelphia. He did not get his first target before less than two minutes in the match – a reception of eight yards.
The NBC broadcast spoke of its lack of targets several times, but the quarter-rear Jalen Hurts used his legs and found other receptors, including the winger tight Dallas Goedert, to move the ball below.

Brown is a triple recipient of the Pro Bowl which had at least 1,000 yards at each of its first seasons with Philadelphia, which raises the question: how did he think of not being a factor at all to start the year?
“You know, it’s not something I can control,” he said, by Penn Live. “What I can control is my effort when the ball comes to me.”

Journalists tried to push Brown on the subject, to which he simply reiterated: “This is something that I cannot control.”
The cowboys noted that they did not want Brown to have the opportunity to play the game, because the defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus made sure that his side of the field had additional coverage.

In turn, Goenert was the player who worked head-on, when he finished the match with seven captures for 44 yards. Hurts also found Jahan Dotson, the third receiver of the team behind Brown and Devonta Smith, for a 52 yards bomb at the bottom of the field.
This is only the first game of the season, and we have certainly seen the connection that Hurts and Brown have had over the years that the Tennessee titans exchanged him in Philadelphia.
Hurts did what was necessary to bring the Eagles down and into the goal area, which they did three times in the first half. He scored the first two touch of the team on the field, while Saquon Barkley, who had four catches in the match, also rushed to a score.

It may be just a blow to start the year for Brown, but until Hurts starts to target it more, it will be something to look forward to going.
