Paul Tazewell has just made the story “bad” at the 2025 Oscars!
The costume tree, which was the brain behind the dressing of Wicked The actors and actresses won the distinction of the best costume design on Sunday March 2, making him the first black man to bring the trophy back to the house.
In his speech of acceptance, the 60 -year -old said: “It is absolutely surprising. Thank you to the Academy for this very important honor.”
“I am the first black man to receive the costume design price for my work on Wicked. I’m so proud of it, “he said.
Tazewell continued: “Thank you all in the United Kingdom for all your beautiful work, I could not have done that without you.”
Then give a cry to Wicked Casting, he said: “My Oziennes Muses, Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande]I love you so much – all the other casting, thank you thank you, for trusting me to give life to your characters. That’s it. Director Jon M. Chu and producer [Marc Platt]THANKS.”
His victory also occurs years after Ruth E. Carter became the first black person to win the prize for the best costume design trophy, fir his efforts in Black panther (2018) then win again for his contributions to Black Panther: Wakanda forever (2022).
